The great thing about Internet media is the ability to create multiple personas for your personal life or your business. While mainstream social media services like to envision people (and business) as being two-dimensional, in reality things are more complicated than that.
We have been segmenting audiences for years; this is nothing new. And, we all like the idea of transparency in the companies, people and/or politicians we deal with. But, that is just not how the real world works. We often put out different messages for different audiences. Social media extends this, creating the need for additional "personas" - identities - that better communicate to each of those market segments.
Businesses have multiple audiences they talk to and often don't want those audiences to mix. For example, there may be no need for your B2C base to know anything about your B2B relationships.
Communication is more complex and there is no "one size fits all" brand.
